Question from a card player:
I am still confused about adding the score up. where do you add the threes on the score sheet especially if you have seven of them?
Point count, is that everything that is left on the table and haven't been made into a canasta?

Hand Knee and Foot Canasta
Basic books: count all required canastas (red 500pts, black 300pts, 7's 5000pts, 5's 3000pts and wilds 2500pts) plus points for going out .
Canastas: count all canastas not included in the Basic count including individual red 3's 100pts and any books of red threes 1000pts, and any extra books of 7's 5000pts, 5's 3000pts or wilds 2500pts.
Point count: is actual counting of all individual cards including all cards in the canastas. jokers 50pts, 2's and A's 20pts, K-8 10pts, 7-4 as 5pts.

Sub Total: Add up what you have so far

Deduction: When a team goes out then subtract any cards a player has left that have not been played yet including red 500pts and black 3's 100pts.

Total: is score of that round.

  1. What count do you give to say, a second book of 7’s if you are missing any of the other required books? I have always played that they were just a normal Red book of 500. Have recently been playing with some new ladies who count them as 5000 which does not seem right.

  2. Each book of 7's is 5000 points regardless.

  3. Yes, all books of 7's, 5's and wilds count their regular bonus point value. 5000, 3000, 2000 no matter if all the basic books have been completed or not. It is one way for a team to make up the points for not getting all their basic books.
